Magic Hour Academy | Media Club
Launched in July 2025, Magic Hour Academy is a club-style media hub for high school students (grades 9–12) to explore storytelling, media production, and creative collaboration in a fun, hands-on environment. Our top priority is creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive space, where LGBTQIA+ students and all participants feel comfortable expressing themselves, taking creative risks, and learning without judgment.
At the Academy, students:
-
🎬 Produce Media Projects: Create films, podcasts, journalism pieces, and digital content from start to finish.
-
📰 Contribute to Our News Hub: Cover local events, produce documentary-style segments, and highlight community voices.
-
🎥 Work on Client Projects: Collaborate on real-world media for local organizations, building professional-quality work to add to portfolios.
-
🌟 Learn From Mentors and Media Professionals: Work alongside instructors, local creatives, and experienced volunteers in a supportive, club-style environment.
-
🤝 Collaborate With Other Programs and Outlets: Partner with studios, community media programs, and other outlets to gain exposure, skills, and experience.
-
🚀 Explore Career Pathways: College-aged participants can engage in internships, apprenticeships, and other professional opportunities to build connections and skills.
-
🛡️ Safe & Welcoming Environment: Carefully vetted mentors and structured guidance ensure every student can focus on creativity, learning, and self-expression.
Magic Hour Academy is interactive, collaborative, and portfolio-focused. Students gain technical skills, confidence, and real-world experience while creating projects they can be proud of and share, from news segments to original podcasts and films. Every participant has the opportunity to shine behind the camera, behind the mic, or in any role they choose, in a space that celebrates individuality, inclusivity, and creative exploration.
